How to care for your thrae Tencel sheets

How to care for your thrae Tencel sheets

One of the driving forces behind the thrae brand is to make luxurious products that will have a small footprint on the earth and also stand the test of time. One of the ways to combat the influx of fast fashion brands and the waste they produce is to purchase higher quality products and look after them.

Tencel is a beautifully soft fabric that does require a little bit of extra effort to take care of, however this effort will be well rewarded with your Tencel sheets getting softer and softer after each wash if treated correctly.

We’ve created this guide so that you can enjoy your Tencel sheets long into the future.

Washing

We recommend washing your sheets prior to your first use. thrae’s Tencel sheets are Oeko-Tex certified, meaning they are created without the use of harmful substances and contain no harmful substances after their production. Even so, it is generally proper hygiene practice to wash your sheets prior to using them for the first time.

  • Wash with cold water on a gentle cycle.
  • Use a mild (biodegradable is preferred) detergent.
  • Avoid the use of bleach, stain remover, fabric softener and harsh detergents as this will wear away at the fabric and reduce their life.
  • Wash sheets separately. This will avoid unnecessary friction with other items or damage by zippers, latches etc.

Drying

The ideal scenario to dry your sheets is to hang them up in the shade on a clothes line immediately after washing them. This will help avoid excessive wrinkles and maintain the colour and fabric.

If this is not an option, you can tumble dry Tencel sheets. Be sure to choose the lowest heat setting and delicate cycle to tumble dry your sheets.

  • Line dry where possible
  • Low heat, low tumble (delicate) setting if tumble drying
  • Tumble dry separately to avoid unnecessary friction and catching
  • Remove immediately after drying and make your bed or neatly fold to avoid unnecessary wrinkles

Storing

thrae Tencel sheets come in a fabric tote bag and a gift box, either of which can be used for storing the sheets in between uses.

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Fold neatly to avoid unnecessary wrinkles.
  • If storing for long periods, ideally wash prior to your next use to avoid dust allergies.

So now that you know how to take care of your thrae Tencel sheets, we hope you enjoy their luxurious comfort for a long time to come!
